Vascular System

We encounter the word vascular system almost everyday. If we talk about animals or plants we cannot avoid the word vascular system. Now let's see what is it really meant.

In animal the term vascular system means circulatory system. That is it refers to the system of how the blood in the body is circulated with the help of arteries, veins and heart.

In plants vascular system means the same thing as in animals, the only difference is that plants do not bleed blood like the the animal does. Vascular system for plants means xylem and phloem. Both xylem and phloem are concerned with the carrying of water and food respectively in the plant body. Not all plants have the vascular system.
